The Heart Behind One Less Thing

My name is Laura, and I'm so glad you're here.

If you've found your way to One Less Thing, chances are life has been a little full lately.

Maybe the laundry has piled up or toys seem to have multiplied overnight. Perhaps you've been juggling work, kids, appointments, or simply trying to keep your head above water.

I've been there too.

I'm a mom to three incredible, unique children who keep life equal parts beautiful, joyful, and chaotic. Like many families, ours has experienced seasons of uncertainty, sadness, and new beginnings. Together, we're learning how to regulate our emotions, grow through life's challenges, and become a little stronger—and a little kinder—with each new season.

My faith has shaped the heart behind this business. Serving others with kindness, honesty, and excellence isn't just good customer service to me—it's an act of worship. Every person who welcomes me into their home deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. That's not extra—that's just Islam.

When I'm not cleaning someone else's home, you'll probably find me vacuuming my own (seriously 😅), singing around the house with my kids, swimming whenever I can, sewing, or fantasy shopping on Land.com and browsing commercial properties for all of my epic business ideas. I also volunteer at an equine therapy ranch caring for horses, and I hope to own my own hobby farm one day, complete with horses, sheep, and a whole crew of barn kitties.

More than anything, I love building things that matter—a peaceful home for my children, meaningful friendships, a strong support system, and businesses with purpose.

I believe the little things matter—showing up on time, communicating clearly, respecting your home, and treating your space with the same care and compassion I'd want someone to show my own.

It's a privilege to be welcomed into someone's home. I never want that responsibility to feel ordinary. My hope is that every visit honors your trust, respects your home, and reminds you that you don't have to carry everything alone.

Now I'm building One Less Thing—a project I'm incredibly proud of and truly believe has the power to change lives.

I started this business because I wanted to create the kind of help I wish more people had.

Not someone who comes in with judgment.

Not someone who expects your home to look perfect.

Just someone who asks one simple question:

"What would make the biggest difference for you today?"

Maybe that's catching up on dishes.

Maybe it's folding three baskets of laundry.

Maybe it's resetting the kitchen after a long week.

Maybe it's decluttering a playroom so your kids have room to imagine again.

Every visit is customized to your priorities because every home—and every season of life—is different.

As One Less Thing grows, my hope is that it becomes a place where families receive the support they need, women find dignified, meaningful, family-friendly work they can be proud of, and our Bloom Program continues helping people through life's more difficult seasons.

At the end of the day, my goal isn't simply to leave your house cleaner—it's to leave you feeling lighter, with one less thing to carry, one less thing to worry about, and one less thing standing between you and the people you love.
